10 Pounds

Today was our 2 month checkup, and Josiah is right on schedule now. He weighed 10 pounds 5 ounces and I believe they said he is 23.5 inches long. His head is also growing, and ginormous :)

He is eating about every 90 minutes and sleeps roughly 5 hours at night before he wakes to eat and then goes back down for about 3 more hours. That schedule I can handle. Austin has been such a dear and helps all of the time. He gets to watch Josiah Tue & Thurs until 1:30 and that is perfect baby/daddy time.

Josiah is smiling a little bit more every day, and now laughs in his sleep. For the last few days he has started coo-ing while awake and not just when he's passed out in the carseat.

I have bee back to work part time since June 6th, and am enjoying it. I have off Wednesdays so that I can sleep or run errands, or both (today was "both"). We have ladies from the church who are off through the summer due to teaching schedules, helping us out during the days that Austin or myself are not home. We are truly blessed with all of the help we are continuing to receive.

Well, Austin is home and I hope he brought lunch, because I'm starving.

Motherhood Learned

I have several friends who are pregnant right now, 3 that are very close to me and it got me thinking of everything I have learned about motherhood in the last 7 weeks. So for those expecting or wanting to be moms, here's a short list of funny things I have realized that may help you one day.

1. If breastfeeding, you must feed before you shower, or expect a lot of cleanup.
2. Get into a bedtime routine early, starting when they are capable of being awake more than 2 hours at a time.
3. Receiving blankets are not for keeping warm, but to be used as napkins, always have at least 2 with you.
4. Fingernails on infants serve no purpose but to scratch themselves and others.
5. In my kid's case, feetie onesies are the best to sleep in when swaddling no longer works.
6. Always have a camera handy.....and diapers.
7. You can never use too many wipes.
8. When burping a child who just had formula, LOOK AWAY! You don't want that burp smell anywhere near your nostrils.
9. Teach them to sleep with silence and noise, as well as lights on and off.
10. Most importantly, the dishes can wait until tomorrow, stare at them all day and watch them change before your eyes.
