Stop! And cherish the roses.
Today is June 22, 2010 and it seems like only a few days ago I was in Abilene celebrating with friends and family for the new year. The older I get, the faster the weeks go by, and the faster go by, the less time I seem to make for those things really important in this life: spreading the gospel, studying the Word, sending thank you cards to those who give constantly, building up the character and self-esteem of those around me, soaking up the precious moments with family, enjoying the gorgeous outdoors we are given and counting all of my blessings.
We have been blessed with SOOOO much, I can't even count it all. I will need to remember these days to look upon when life isn't so nice down the road. But my attitude is what must carry me through those pleasant or difficult situations, nothing else. So I challenge you this week to do one of the following:
1) Send a thank you card to someone that does good or constantly has a great attitude
2) Memorize a Bible verse, and put it on your computer screen at work
3) Dig out an old picture from that box in the closet, scan it in and send a copy to anyone who would cherish it
4) Smile while you are driving
5) Ask a friend you haven't spoken to in months/years to lunch
6) Pick your spouse up from work with a picnic basket ready to go to the park
7) Tell all the students in your classes to sign a piece of paper/posterboard so you have their autograph when they become famous, and tell them why you think they will be famous (going to jail doesn't count)
8) Bring bagels/donuts into work & tell your co-workers, in order to get one, they have to tell you one good thins that happened yesterday
9) Call/email your in-laws and tell them you are thinking about them and are proud of what their son/daughter has become
10) And if you're really wanting to have a memorable week, try to do all of these things!
