A Month in Review

Today Josiah had his 1 month check up. His head is giant and he is now 22 inches long. His weight is up, but not as much as it should be, he is 8 lbs, 6 oz. I go back to work in 2.5 weeks, and he'll need to be on some formula by then anyway, so this week we will start adding in a little bit to see how he reacts. He has done fine with premade milk, but powder formula didn't go so well. He eats every two hours, so maybe formula would help anyway.

Austin and I have adjusted, but will have to readjust when I go back to work. Currently, I handle all after midnight night shifts Sun-Thurs, and then he helps considerably on Fri and Sat nights to let me catch up on extra sleep. We had our fist date night last Fri and went to a little guitar concert at the Allen library for a couple of hours. I am impressed daily with how much Austin jumps at the opportunity to help when he is home.

We had Josiah on the 14th, and took him to church on the 20th. He has been out to eat a few times, and to the grocery store twice. He sees grandmom in Frisco about once a week as well. We all went to a BBQ on Saturday and I think he had a blast. After his 2 week checkup we drove out to Abilene to introduce him to friends and family, so he is quite the traveler.

All of the ladies at church can't get enough of him!! I'm surprised there haven't been any fist fights yet. They are going to be such a blessing as hey have offered to help watch him this summer.

I can't wait to see how much he grows and changes over the next month too - although it's already breaking my heart some to see how advanced he is in some areas. I hope he doesn't grow up too fast!

  • We were so glad to see him, and so soon! Austin, as usual, sets the bar high for the rest of us dads, helping out a little with sleep.
